Clean Up Your Stampede Breakfast

Scorpion pizza, poutine burgers, and deep fried cheesies. Oh my!

The Stampede Midway is becoming known for the food, but not for any good health reason. These gut-busters, along with dozens of others, tempt visitors and expand their waistlines.

The typical Stampede Breakfast is no different – white-flour pancakes, chemical-laden sugary syrups, and factory-farmed meats. Talk about belly bloat!

The occasional indulgence is okay, and for some Stampede is their time, but for those who are looking for a healthy alternative, it’s Amber Romaniuk to the rescue!

Amber is out to change the world, one restaurant at a time, and one home-cooked meal at a time. She is a Holistic Nutritionist, teacher, public speaker, and author.

She’s also the mind behind The Amber Approved Stampede Breakfast held at Hotel Arts on Wednesday, July 9.

“I wanted to figure out how to create a healthy Stampede Breakfast because it doesn’t really exist,” said Amber. “I wanted to create a fun and delicious breakfast that caters to health in the midst of all the deep fried food and alcohol.

“No one should be left out, especially during Calgary’s prime celebration, but people like me that have intolerances, or others who have celiac or allergies, have been left on the sidelines.”

What makes her breakfast different?

“I always like to do something different, so the gluten, dairy and sugar-free breakfast separates me from all the rest.”

Amber’s menu is a gourmet-inspired healthy alternative to the traditional:

  • Veggie frittata
  • Chicken apple sausages
  • Blueberry buckwheat pancakes with real maple syrup
  • Gluten-free mini muffins

Get all of your delicious favourites with a twist, plus a fruit smoothie bar with a variety of flavours, organic juice shots, infused waters, and Amber Approved fudge to complete the menu.

The chefs at Hotel Arts have brought Amber’s vision to life with the help of Market 17, where the local ingredients are being sourced.

Along with delicious eats, breakfast goers can expect a really fun and unique experience. There will be free yoga demos all morning from the Yoga Studio South, as well as fun giveaways, live music and plenty of other surprises along the way.

Attendees will definitely leave feeling re-energized and rejuvenated to go back out to the party and continue Stampeding!
