Stampede Style has gotten a major overhaul this year, thanks to new Calgary Stampede Mercantile curator, Paul Hardy –a fantastic locally based Fashion Designer.
As a fashion designer whose work has been showcased on an international platform, Hardy is an obvious choice. He’s respectful of traditional roots, but wanted to reflect what Calgary is today and showcase how the city is not a honky tonk, but rather a cosmopolitan city.
The CS Mercantile is the flagship provider of urban-western style, home accessories, corporate gifting, and confectionary.
Gone are the days of a midway store full of items that ‘cater to the carnies’, rather this year you will see products and pieces that reflect an urban and hip esthetic with a western flair.
If you have deep pockets you might consider the $2000 Cowboy Boots that are inlaid with crystals. For those who have premium seating at the rodeo –feel free to shop while you watch the rodeo via the online shop and have the items you purchase hand delivered to your seats.
Of course it’s still Stampede, so a little humour is definitely part of the mix. One of the most anticipated items is a giant foam finger with ‘ride it’ splashed across in big letters. In fact the peeps behind CS Mercantile believe these are going to be so popular they’ve ordered 50,000 of these bad boys.
For those interested in picking up some merchandise there’s no need to wait till Stampede. The CS Mercantile Concept Store will be open from now until June 28 (Tuesdays through Saturdays 10am and 5pm) at the Paul Hardy Studio (Bay 5, 2501 Alyth Road SE) where most of the merchandise will be available for purchase.
