Get your Stampede outfit together

Full disclosure: I’ve lived in Calgary for 12 years and have never owned a cowboy hat or cowboy boots. If you are like me and your wardrobe is devoid of Stampede wear, or if you are just looking for something unique that reflects your personal style, this list might help you find that hidden gem to help you put together a kick ass outfit. Check out these retailers to put together a one-of-a-kind Stampede outfit:

The Boots

Vancouver-based Elizabeth Anne is the creative genius behind these leather cowboy boots, which have a secret pocket inside the leg for your cellphone, keys, credit cards, and makeup. Guaranteed you’ll be the most popular person in your crew. Bonus: they offer expedited shipping to make sure you get them in time for the party.

Don’t want to risk shipping time and sizing? Head over to Luna Blue (hidden up the hill on 14th street SW in Bankview) for an extensive selection of Stampede-friendly boots.

Bohemian Cowboy

If you’re looking for a little less plaid and a little more rad (think fringe, navajo print, beads, and scarves), check out Queen Boutique in Kensington. The store is stocked with a great selection of one-of-a-kind dresses, skirts, tops, and accessories.

Go Vintage

Head-to-toe vintage is hard to pull off, but adding a single vintage piece to your outfit is always stylish. Urban Thrift has recently set up their extensive collection of Stampede-wear and A Vintage Affair in the Beltline has a well-curated collection of clothing and accessories, like scarves, buckles, and belts.
