Stmpdr Daily – July 7

Looking for something to do today at the Calgary Stampede (or perhaps instead of Stampede)? Look no further. We’ve rounded up our top picks for today. Call it our Stmpdr six. Have an awesome day! And don’t forget to follow us for all the daily happenings @stmpdr.

Mexifest is a family-oriented, multicultural arts and entertainment festival highlighting Mexican culture. From food and dance to music and Luchadores, you can expect to enjoy the very best of all things Mexican. Head to the heart of downtown Calgary at Eau Claire Plaza on July 7th to experience a taste of Mexico at the second and final day of this colourful showcase.

Stampede on 17th

17th Ave is finally back on it’s feet (yes that’s right, construction is done and you can once again drive, bike, walk or segway all the way down the avenue). So make your way down to the new ‘Stampede Mile’ and enjoy Stampede on 17th where you’ll be treated to the ultimate pancake breakfast, live music, dance performances, games, mechanical bull riding and much more. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and valet parking is available all day for $5.

Meghan Patrick – Nashville North 10 p.m.

Our girl Meghan is ready to bring it home, as one of country’s newest and shiniest acts. Get ready to two-step and sing along with this passionate performer as she draws you in with her raw emotion and countrified lyrics. This is a night at Nashville you don’t want to miss.

Fluor Rope Square – Olympic Plaza

Enjoy free bacon pancakes served starting at 8:15 a.m. and if for some reason bacon’s not your style, trade up for a Lilydale Farms turkey bacon pancake instead. Entertainment will include all the usual suspects: marching bands, dancers, singers, fiddlers, clowns, facepainting, mascots, squaredancing, the incredi-pull, Butterfield acres petting zoo and contests galore, from the Lammles World Championship Hat Stomp to the Fluor Great Western Flapjack Flip. Just remember, early bird gets the worm…or in the case the first pancake, sans the giant line.

Broken Social Scene – Coca-Cola Stage 9:30 p.m.

Seven years after their last album, Broken Social Scene has returned with their fifth record, Hug of Thunder – and you can bet they’re ready to bring the thunder to the 2018 Coke Stage. This 15 member band is a force to be reckoned with and theirs is a show you won’t want to miss so grab a corn dog and hit up this concert for a good ol’ time.

Tech Hoe Down

Need an achy breaky break from all the country music? Get down at the all-day Tech Hoe Down in the East Village featuring more than 10 artists playing from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Free music will be coming your way from Danger Bay, Jessie James, Crane, x8Less, Zach Blach and more.
